This is Really Serious': Fox's Bret Baier Worried by Democrats' Disappointing' Support for Socialism
"So, listen, I think that there's a lot of Republicans that are weighing into this race from afar, saying this is going to be great for the Republican Party to hang it around candidates in purple states later on. But there's people in New York here waking up to, this is really serious. This is a serious moment as you close in on Election Day."
"Yeah, and it's disappointing when you look at some of those polls about where people talk about socialism, even though if you ask the question: Give me a country where socialism has worked,' you know, there's not an answer. And, Give me a city where it's really worked,' there's not an answer."
"I'm not sure Mamdani has fully answered what that looks like, said Baier. He smiles a lot through it. He says he's going to, you know, work with all kinds of people, but I'm not sure his past statements equal what he's saying currently."
Polls show two-thirds of Democrats nationally express a favorable view of socialism. Questions arise about whether some respondents understand socialism. No country or city is identified where socialism has demonstrably worked. Republicans view the mayoral contest as an opportunity to label candidates and gain advantage in purple states. New Yorkers are portrayed as increasingly concerned as Election Day approaches. Zohran Mamdani, a self-professed socialist, is expected to prevail in the mayoral race. Uncertainty exists about how Mamdani will address policing and public safety, with past statements appearing inconsistent with present assurances. Debate over practical examples of successful socialism is used to question the feasibility of the ideology in local governance.
