This furloughed IRS lawyer has a new side gig: running a hot dog stand
"This is self-expression,"
"This is me having artistic fun."
"furloughed"
"To be real, Thursday was a bit ambitious,"
Isaac Stein, 31, works as a lawyer at the Internal Revenue Service handling tax regulations around employee benefits. He invested a five-figure sum and obtained permits to launch a hot dog stand called Shyster's Dogs in Washington, DC's NoMa neighborhood. He originally planned evening and weekend operations outside his legal job but was furloughed on October 8, converting the side project into near full-time work. He now typically sells hot dogs from noon to 5 p.m. on weekdays at First and M Street NE. The stand uses humor, with the name referencing "shyster" to bring a laugh to the legal community.
