Adm. Frank M. Bradley, at Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's authorization, ordered a strike on an alleged drug-smuggling boat and then a second strike on survivors. The second strike reportedly killed everyone on board. The White House denies Hegseth authorized the double-tap strikes on alleged Venezuelan drug boats in the Caribbean. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries called the White House liars, said Hegseth was involved, and predicted bipartisan investigations in both chambers to determine whether war crimes or violations of U.S. or international law occurred. Jeffries characterized Hegseth as the most unqualified Secretary of Defense and blamed Senate Republicans for confirming him.
