'There Is No Insurrection!' Oregon Governor Bashes Trump Sending Troops to Portland
"There is no insurrection. There is no threat to national security, and there is no need for military troops in our major city. Military service members should be dedicated to real emergencies. The members of the Oregon National Guard, their mission is to stand up and protect Oregonians, and they will do that everyday. But they are not needed in the city. They are not needed here."
"The 58-year-old Democrat's response followed President Trump's announcement he was directing Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to deploy all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland. The president also said Hegseth should do what he can to protect our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists. Kotek, of course, is not the first Democratic politician to complain about Trump's use of the National Guard."
Oregon Governor Tina Kotek strongly rejected the decision to send federal troops into Portland, asserting there is no insurrection or national security threat and that military personnel are not needed in the city. Kotek emphasized that Oregon National Guard members should focus on protecting Oregonians and responding to genuine emergencies rather than urban deployments. The president directed Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to deploy troops to protect what he described as war-ravaged Portland and to defend ICE facilities from attacks by Antifa and other domestic terrorists. Other Democratic leaders have also criticized the use of the National Guard in major cities.
