The Trump administration pushed out a university president its latest bid to close the American mind | Robert Reich
Briefly

The President of the University of Virginia, James Ryan, resigned after facing pressure from the Trump administration following an investigation into the university's compliance with orders to ban diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Ryan stated that he could not push back against the administration merely to retain his position. The Trump administration's actions included demanding resignations from university officials and addressing alleged civil rights violations at other institutions. These actions align with a broader strategy to exert control over higher education in the U.S., reminiscent of authoritarian tactics in other countries.
James Ryan declared that while he was committed to the university and inclined to fight, he could not in good conscience push back just to save his job.
The Trump regime said Harvard University had violated federal civil rights law over the treatment of Jewish students on campus.
On Tuesday, the regime released $175m in previously frozen federal funding to the University of Pennsylvania, after the school agreed to bar transgender athletes from women's teams.
They're following Hungarian president Viktor Orban's playbook for creating an illiberal democracy, an authoritarian state masquerading as a democracy.
