Federal prosecutors charged a person accused of reversing a U-Haul truck toward a blockade of U.S. Coast Guard officers at Coast Guard Base Alameda during protests over a planned immigration enforcement action. Coast Guard personnel fired at the vehicle after the driver did not stop, and the Department of Homeland Security reported injuries to the driver and a bystander who were taken to local hospitals. The driver, identified as Thompson, received treatment at Highland Hospital, was detained, evaluated at John George Psychiatric Hospital, and later booked into Santa Rita Jail. Video shows the truck arriving, the driver briefly joining protesters, reversing toward the bridge, and officers firing as the vehicle moved.
