Stephen Miller, flanked by Vice President J.D. Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, visited National Guard troops at the Union Station Shake Shack. Demonstrators outside shouted in protest of the administration's crime crackdown, federal control of Metro police, and the deployment of the National Guard. Miller responded angrily to the protesters, using epithets such as "communists," "crazy communists," and "elderly white hippies." Miller suggested increased resources could be added to remove criminals and gang members and stated a refusal to allow protesters to derail efforts to protect Washington, D.C., and American citizens.
We are not going to let the communists destroy a great American city, let alone the nation's capital All these demonstrators that you've seen out there in recent days, all of these elderly white hippies, they're not part of this city and never have been.
So we're going to ignore these stupid white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap because they're all over 90 years old, and we're gonna get back to the business of protecting the American people and the citizens of Washington, D.C.
