Briefly

India and the Philippines executed their inaugural joint naval exercises in the South China Sea, coinciding with President Ferdinand Marcos' state visit to New Delhi. The exercises, involving Indian vessels like the INS Delhi and two frigates from the Philippines, began on a Sunday and included activities such as replenishment at sea. The collaboration is seen as a move to bolster maritime law adherence. The chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines noted the absence of incidents despite being shadowed by China, highlighting the exercises' success and hope for future engagements.
The naval exercises come as the Philippines' President Ferdinand Marcos departed for a state visit to New Delhi on Monday, where he is expected to hold talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The two-day exercises started on Sunday and include three Indian vessels, with India's guided missile destroyer INS Delhi arriving in Manila for a port visit late last week.
Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff Romeo Brawner mentioned that they did not experience any untoward incident but acknowledged being shadowed during the naval exercises.
Brawner expressed hopes that Filipino forces could engage India's military in more joint maneuvers in the future, indicating successful initial naval patrols.
