"In nine months, the Trump administration has cut the backlog of VA benefit claims in half. That's a big achievement and Doug [Collins] is gonna get it down to zero. During the Biden administration, the backlog exploded like we had never seen before, and I'm gonna eliminate 100% of that backlog. We're moving at that pace and already we've processed more than 3 million backlog claims, the most of any year in the history of the VA."
"We also have brought back VA choice and VA accountability, taken away by the Biden administration. So that when you have to wait online, you go out and you get yourself a doctor, we pay for the doctor if you have to wait. And the other thing is we fired thousands of people who didn't take care of our great veterans."
Under the administration, the VA backlog of benefit claims was reduced by half in nine months, with more than three million backlog claims processed and one million extra service hours added across VA centers. Twenty new VA facilities opened in 13 states. VA Choice and VA accountability were reinstated, allowing veterans to see outside doctors when wait times are long. Over 9,000 VA employees alleged to have mistreated veterans were removed and later some were rehired under the Biden administration. A National Center for Warrior Independence was established to house up to 6,000 veterans, with a stated commitment to ending veterans' homelessness.
