Senate confirms top leaders for HUD, Ginnie Mae and FDIC

"In a separate announcement, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) said several additional nominees were confirmed: Benjamin Hobbs as assistant secretary for Public and Indian Housing (PIH); Ronald Kurtz as assistant secretary for Community Planning and Development (CPD); David Woll as HUD general counsel in the Office of General Counsel (OGC); Benjamin DeMarzo as assistant secretary for Congressional and Intergovernmental Relations (CIR); and Craig Trainor as assistant secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO)."
The Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs advanced nominations to a full Senate vote, and confirmation hearings were held in late October. HUD announced confirmation of additional nominees: Benjamin Hobbs (PIH), Ronald Kurtz (CPD), David Woll (OGC), Benjamin DeMarzo (CIR), and Craig Trainor (FHEO). The Mortgage Bankers Association congratulated Travis Hill, Frank Cassidy, and Joe Gormley and pledged cooperation to streamline regulations, strengthen the mortgage market, increase bank participation in real estate finance, expand access to homeownership and rental housing, and promote housing affordability. The Consumer Bankers Association congratulated Hill on his confirmation as FDIC Chair. NRMLA and CHLA also issued congratulatory statements.
