Scott Bessent Made Same 'Primary Residence' Claim That Trump Wants to Fire Fed Gov Over
"In 2007, Bessent indicated that homes he owned in both Massachusetts and New York were his primary residence, according to mortgage records. Bloomberg, pointing to mortgage experts, said there is no sign of wrongdoing on Bessent's part, and that Bank of America, the lender he was working with, did not expect him to use both homes as his primary residence."
"The report comes as President Trump has moved to fire Cook over allegations of mortgage fraud. Cook has been accused of signing documents in 2021 indicating that a home in Ann Arbor, Michigan and an Atlanta property were both her primary residences. President Trump moved to fire Cook in August over the move, and Bill Pulte, the man the president has put in charge of regulating Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, submitted a criminal referral to the Justice Department earlier this month."
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent indicated in mortgage records that, in 2007, he listed homes in Massachusetts and New York as his primary residence simultaneously. Mortgage experts found no sign of wrongdoing, and Bank of America did not expect him to use both homes as his primary residence. Bank of America lent Bessent $21 million for properties in Bedford Hills, New York and Provincetown, Massachusetts. Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook faces allegations that she signed 2021 documents listing Ann Arbor and Atlanta properties as primary residences. Efforts to remove Cook have been legally blocked, and she has not been criminally charged.
