Zoom in: Musk's donation amounts won't be disclosed publicly until campaign finance reports are released next month. But his support could be a huge boost for Trump's Republicans next year as they try to stop Democrats from reclaiming power in Congress, particularly the House."
"After the 2024 election, Trump invited Musk into the administration to oversee the federal cost-cutting effort Musk dubbed the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE. The two grew close in the early days of Trump's second term, and Musk spent some nights at the White House. But after Musk departed the administration in May, he and Trump had a bitter falling out. Musk was angered by, among other things, Trump's decision to withdraw the nomination of Musk ally Jared Isaacman to lead NASA."
Elon Musk donated significant recent funds to support Republican congressional candidates and signaled additional contributions across the 2026 cycle. Donation amounts will become public when campaign finance reports are filed next month. Musk was the largest donor in 2024, contributing $291.5 million, mostly to Donald Trump's reelection. The donations followed a dinner at the Naval Observatory organized by Vice President Vance and attended by White House staff and Musk lieutenant Jared Birchall. Musk previously worked with Trump on a federal cost-cutting initiative called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) but left in May and later had a bitter falling out with Trump.
