Secretary of State Marco Rubio handed President Donald Trump a note saying a Middle East peace deal was very close and asking for Truth Social approval so Trump could announce it first. An AP photographer captured Rubio whispering in Trump’s ear while handing the note. Trump told reporters he had received the note and later posted on Truth Social saying Israel and Hamas had signed off on the first phase of a peace plan, that hostages would be released soon, and that mediators from Qatar, Egypt and Turkey helped secure the agreement. The White House indicated Trump might travel to the region after a medical checkup.
