Rosie O'Donnell apologized after wrongly suggesting the Minneapolis school shooter was a Republican and MAGA supporter. The shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church killed two children and wounded 18 others; the shooter, 23-year-old Robin Westman, later died by a self-inflicted gunshot. Investigators reported Westman had scrawled a call for President Trump's death on a firearm magazine and wrote messages expressing hatred for Christians, Black people, Hispanic people, Jews, and Israel. O'Donnell posted a now-deleted TikTok in which she labeled the shooter a 'white guy, Republican, MAGA person' and referenced white supremacists. After backlash she posted another video admitting she had not done due diligence and offering an apology.
The attack at Annunciation Catholic Church left two children dead and 18 others wounded. The shooter, 23-year-old Robin Westman, later died from a self-inflicted gunshot. In a now-deleted video posted to TikTok on Thursday, one day after the shooting, O'Donnell, who relocated to Ireland in January after Trump's return to the White House, fumed that the shooter was a white guy, Republican, MAGA person. What do you know? White supremacists, she added at the time.
Investigators, however, say Westman scrawled a call for President Trump's death on a firearm magazine, alongside other writings expressing hatred for Christians, Black people, Hispanic people, Jews, and Israel. After backlash, the comedian, who has feuded with Trump for nearly two decades, posted a further video conceding she did not do her due diligence before making what she called an emotional statement. I said things about the shooter that were incorrect, she admitted.
