Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is planning to remove all members of the United States Preventive Services Task Force, which recommends preventive health services that insurance must cover. Kennedy perceives the task force as too "woke." An HHS spokesman indicated that decisions on how the task force can better align with HHS goals are still pending. Recently, a meeting for the task force was unexpectedly canceled, with no explanation provided for the cancellation.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. plans to oust all 16 members of a task force that recommends which preventive health services must be covered by insurance.
Kennedy views the group -- the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) -- as too "woke," according to a source familiar with the plans.
HHS spokesman Andrew Nixon stated that "no final decision has been made on how USPSTF can better support HHS' mandate to Make America Healthy Again."
A scheduled meeting of the task force was abruptly canceled earlier this month, with no reason given.
