A PBS correspondent asked the White House whether President Trump's remark about hating an opponent conflicted with Erica Kirk's public forgiveness of her husband's killer. The White House press secretary defended the President as authentically himself and noted that millions of Americans, including Erica Kirk, support and lean on him in grief. Erica Kirk invoked the Bible, cited Christ's example of forgiveness, and stated that she forgives the shooter because forgiveness reflected what her husband would have done. She emphasized that the answer to hate is love, citing the Gospel.
