Rep. Julia Brownley announces she will not seek reelection
""Serving our community and our country has been the honor of my lifetime. Every step of this journey has been shaped by the people I represent, by their resilience, their determination, and their belief that government can and should work for the common good,""
""We ... never lost sight of the simple truth that public service is about showing up for people when they need help the most.""
Rep. Julia Brownley, 73, will not seek reelection to the U.S. House after serving districts in Ventura and Los Angeles counties since 2012. Her record includes expanding access to healthcare, supporting veterans, fighting climate change and providing constituent services. Brownley previously served on a local school board and in the state Assembly. She won reelection in 2024 with 56.6% of the vote against GOP challenger Michael Koslow, while district registration was about 42.5% Democratic, 29.6% Republican and 20.4% independent. Brownley did not provide a reason for not running again.
