"Publicly labeling our workforce as 'criminals' without any knowledge of who they are is reckless and distressing,"
"Allston Car Wash has been a family-owned business in this neighborhood for almost five decades."
"Our employees are good, hardworking individuals who come to work each day to provide for themselves and their families."
"This week they finally responded to my request to detain these criminals,"
"As someone who lives in the neighborhood, I've seen how American jobs are being given away to those with no right to be here. Pump up the numbers!"
Allston Car Wash described itself as a family-owned business operating in the neighborhood for almost five decades and characterized its employees as good, hardworking individuals who provide for themselves and their families. Nine employees were detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents earlier in November. Zac Segel, president of the Boston University College Republicans, posted on X claiming credit for requesting the detentions and wrote that American jobs were being given away to people with no right to be here. The car wash said Segel never contacted management or inquired about employees. Manager Jose Barrera said nearly two dozen federal agents executed subpoenas and detained workers before they could retrieve work permits; the workers had work permits.
