Abigail Spanberger has gained an electoral edge in her bid for Virginia governor by securing the endorsement of the Virginia Police Benevolent Association, which previously supported a Republican candidate. Spanberger has consistently led her opponent, Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears, by significant margins in polling and fundraising efforts. Earle-Sears faces challenges within her campaign, raising concerns among Virginia Republicans that her difficulties could negatively impact the entire Republican ticket in the upcoming election.
The Virginia Police Benevolent Association, the largest police representative organization in Virginia, today announced its endorsement of Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger to serve as the next Governor of Virginia.
Spanberger has been consistently trouncing Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears on the campaign trail, leading her in the polls by double digits for months and doubling her fundraising.
Virginia Republicans are viewing Earle-Sears' hopes this November as so dire, with some even attacking her clown car campaign, worried her problems will drag down the rest of the Republican ticket.
This year, the VAPBA gave the nod to Spanberger, marking a significant shift as they supported Republican Glenn Youngkin in 2021.
