Pete Hegseth ends decorated Navy doctor's career after she was targeted by online trolls - LGBTQ Nation
"Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth joined forces with one of social media's most vitriolic anti-trans campaigners last week to drum a Navy Commander out of the service over her support for transgender healthcare. It was a one-two punch from Hegseth in service of the president's crusade against "woke" ideology and transgender people in the federal government and American society at large."
"He reposted Raichik's vilifying post with the words, "She/her/fired." "This might be one of the most hateful tweets I've seen," said one X user in the replies. There's been no official announcement from the Defense Department of Marra's firing, but it follows a parade of terminations of women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ+ community by Hegseth since the start of the current administration in January, and adds to a pattern of dismissals often carried out without formal explanation."
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth amplified a post from anti-LGBTQ+ activist Chaya Raichik (Libs of TikTok) that highlighted Dr. Janelle Marra's LinkedIn references to "she/her," "Transgender Healthcare," and "LGBTQ+ Health." Hegseth reposted the content with the caption "She/her/fired." There has been no official Defense Department announcement of Marra's termination. The action follows numerous dismissals of women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ service members since January, often without formal explanations. Raichik has been designated an extremist by the Southern Poverty Law Center for anti-LGBTQ+ propaganda. Harvard Law instructor Alejandra Carabello called the tactic "the digital stasi."
