EPA administrator Lee Zeldin's recent decision to overturn a 16-year ruling permits major polluters to emit greenhouse gases without regulation. This reversal represents a significant shift away from environmental protection, jeopardizing public health and safety amid climate crisis. The agency, historically established to combat environmental degradation, seems to abandon its mission. Zeldin's agenda includes deregulation and enhancing energy production without regard for established laws. Despite notable achievements in renewable energy and vehicle manufacturing, the new policies threaten innovation and sustainability efforts championed by thousands of businesses dedicated to emissions reduction.
Zeldin has made no secret of his ambitions to use the EPA as a means for deregulation and driving 'a dagger straight into the climate change religion to drive down cost of living for American families'.
It is truly Orwellian to see the EPA... divesting itself of the responsibility to address the ravages of the climate crisis during a summer of extreme weather.
