"Yesterday, make-believe US Attorney for Los Angeles Bill Essayli suffered another humiliating acquittal, this time of the assault prosecution of photographer Isias Lopez - I believe he's the guy wearing black with yellow stripes on his shoulders at the beginning of the video below. According to LAT's Brittney Mejia, this is the sixth ICE-related case that has related in acquittal."
"One of the reasons for the revolt in MN is DOJ's refusal to investigate the shootings, choosing instead to investigate those who were murdered; though Todd Blanche said in a presser that Civil Rights is investigating the Pretti murder. The reports describe prosecutors telling US Attorney Daniel Rosen they might all quit. And WaPo described that one AUSA already has quit:"
Bill Essayli lost an acquittal in the assault prosecution of photographer Isias Lopez, another ICE-related case ending without conviction. Pretrial filings indicated the defense would argue prosecutors pursued charges to deflect scrutiny of use-of-force after Lopez was pushed while photographing a protest. Pam Bondi secured a grand jury indictment of Don Lemon and another journalist that the Chief Judge for Minnesota found lacked probable cause. Aggressive ICE enforcement has destabilized the Minnesota U.S. Attorney's Office, prompting warnings of mass resignations and at least one AUSA resignation. Prosecutors complained of pressure to criminalize protesters and to rush immigration-related charges. DOJ Civil Rights is investigating the Pretti murder.
