"Once again, that is what the Trump administration is saying after another protester was shot and killed by federal immigration agents during an immigration enforcement operation in Minneapolis. It's the second time in less than three weeks that federal agents killed a protester in Minneapolis. And for the second time, cellphone videos from bystanders on the scene appear to contradict the federal account of the killing."
"Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse, was shot at least 10 times and died while being pinned to the ground by Border Patrol agents. The Department of Homeland Security said Pretti approached agents with a "9 mm semi-automatic handgun" and was killed after they attempted to disarm him. But just like Good's killing, cellphone videos of the events were analyzed by news organizations, and the analysis did not line up with the government's assessment."
Federal immigration agents shot and killed two protesters in Minneapolis within three weeks, while bystander cellphone videos appeared to contradict federal accounts. On Jan. 7, Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother and poet, was shot three times in the face and died while driving past an ICE agent; the government said she attempted to ram the agent, but videos showed her trying to turn away and flee. In a subsequent incident, Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse, was shot at least 10 times and died while pinned by Border Patrol agents. The Department of Homeland Security said Pretti approached with a 9 mm handgun, but video analysis showed him holding a phone and agents wrestling him before the shooting.
