""As we approach the second anniversary of the Oct. 7 terror attacks, we recommit ourselves to standing firmly against hate in every form. Sadly, some are exploiting this moment to promote so-called 'No Business As Usual - Escalate for Gaza' demonstrations, laced with violent imagery and rhetoric. "Let's be clear: calls to 'globalize the intifada' are not abstract slogans - they are calls for violence against Jews,""
NYPD is on high alert and increasing police presence at sensitive religious and cultural sites across New York City ahead of planned protests marking the second anniversary of the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks. The department said there are no credible threats but is deploying additional resources citywide and boosting patrols. Pro-Palestinian groups Within Our Lifetime and Behind Enemy Lines scheduled demonstrations including a 4:30 p.m. Midtown rally at the News Corp building, a Bronx speakout at noon in Mott Haven, and a convergence at the Israeli Consulate around 4 p.m. Some protests call for student and worker walkouts. Mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo condemned the demonstrations and warned that calls to "globalize the intifada" amount to calls for violence against Jews.
