National Review Editor Tweaks JD Vance After VP Winces at Reminder He Wrote for Magazine
Briefly

JD Vance, during an event with American Compass founder Oren Cass, humorously remarked on his previous writings for National Review, suggesting it was insulting to be reminded of them. This light-hearted exchange reflects Vance's shift away from traditional conservative views. Ramesh Ponnuru, editor at National Review, addressed Vance's comments in a blog post, acknowledging the quality of Vance's past work while noting his allowed evolution of thought. Ponnuru's response balances admiration for Vance's intellect with a pointed reminder of his roots in conservative journalism.
At an event last night, Vice President JD Vance joked that it was an insult to be reminded that he used to write articles for National Review. I think those articles hold up pretty well. But Vance is of course entitled to change his mind and has exercised that right with gusto.
I am thrilled to have this opportunity to talk with you and so grateful that the work you're doing and, in a sense, so in awe of it because there are politicians out there who are they've just been politicians.
