The Trump administration recently expanded a probe into the University of California over alleged antisemitism on its school campuses and demanded an additional $1 billion fine and major campus changes to settle antisemitism claims at UCLA."

The petition called the disclosure a violation of academic freedom and accused the university system of disgracefully undermining the First Amendment, and is sponsored by RootsAction, College Democrats of America, High School Democrats of America and Progressive Democrats of America. Milliken became president Aug. 1 after serving as chancellor of the University of Texas. The Trump administration expanded probes into UC campuses, demanded a $1 billion fine at UCLA, and drew criticism from Governor Gavin Newsom.
