Nancy Mace roasted online after Coldplay kiss cam couple meme backfires
Briefly

Nancy Mace shared a viral meme from a Coldplay concert to praise Donald Trump's economic record, labeling two individuals in the image as symbols of the economy. The meme featured an awkward moment caught on camera, which users quickly pointed out undermined her message. Critics noted the irony, as both individuals were dismissed from their positions shortly after. The credibility of job creation claims associated with Trump has also been challenged by reports pointing to misleading statements on job growth. Mace has faced criticism for her controversial comments on other occasions as well.
Mace labelled Byron "Trump's economy" and Cabot "American-Born Workers," writing: "Employment among American-born workers is up nearly two million jobs since January, thank you [Donald Trump]."
Users were quick to point out that, given the context of the clip, labelling the pair as such might not be the slam dunk Mace thought it was.
The claim that Trump has created millions of jobs is open to question. In March, factcheck.org reported that his administration had made "several misleading statements" about job growth since January.
One user claimed, "The best part about your post is that, within hours of this picture, they were both out of a job."
