Prosecutor Lindsey Halligan attended but did not speak; she sat rocking and nodding while a junior federal prosecutor from North Carolina spoke on behalf of the Justice Department. Comey's defense counsel stated that no discovery had been produced, and the junior prosecutor acknowledged that prosecutors were still getting their hands around the discovery. The presiding judge expressed skepticism, called the case not overly complicated, noted two counts and a discrete set of facts, and questioned the prosecution's preparedness.
