And to understand why no one else would join her in this case, all you have to do is look at the charges. I mean, James was charged with two counts, one for bank fraud and another for making false statements to a financial institution."
Jen Psaki condemned President Donald Trump for prompting fraud charges against New York Attorney General Letitia James, calling them politically motivated retaliation. Letitia James was indicted on mortgage fraud-related counts after winning a half-billion-dollar civil judgment against Trump that was later set aside as excessive. Several prosecutors previously declined to charge James, and James described the indictment as baseless. The indictment was brought by Lindsey Halligan, a Trump-picked prosecutor who pursued the case after other U.S. attorneys declined.
