Donald Trump spoke to reporters while boarding Marine One and was asked about the arrest of former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro. Trump said he had spoken to Bolsonaro the previous night and that they would be meeting in the very near future. Rachel Maddow laughed and extrapolated that Trump’s comments suggested a plot in which Bolsonaro would cut off an ankle bracelet during chaotic demonstrations, flee to the U.S. embassy, and be spirited out of the country to the United States to avoid prison. Maddow described the scenario as cinematic and conspiratorial and said Trump’s blurted remark made it seem plausible.
