Mountain View nonprofit forgoes federal funding on principle - San Jose Spotlight
""We will serve anybody who comes to us," Myers said. "We do not track immigration status. We will make referrals so that people can make their own choices about where they get assistance.""
""egregious""
Community Services Agency (CSA) of Mountain View declined to apply for Community Development Block Grant funding after the federal government required grantees to check immigration status and barred engagement in "gender ideology" and referrals to abortion providers. Executive Director Tom Myers called the directives "egregious" and said CSA will serve anyone who seeks assistance without tracking immigration status. CSA will provide referrals so clients can choose where to get assistance. CSA is the primary safety-net provider for Mountain View, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills, offering food, emergency rent and utility aid, homeless support services, and senior case management.
