She has an 11-year-old son with Michael Leavitt, brother of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt; the child lives full-time with his father in New Hampshire and has not spoken with Ferreira since the arrest. Ferreira's attorney said she came to the U.S. under DACA and is in the process of obtaining residency, and that she was taken from her young child right before Thanksgiving. A Department of Homeland Security statement said she entered on a B2 visa requiring departure in 1999, has a prior battery arrest, and is in removal proceedings under current enforcement.
