Minneapolis immigration crackdown to end Tom Homan
""I have proposed and President Trump has concurred that this surge operation conclude," Homan told media in Minneapolis on Thursday."
""A significant drawdown has already been underway this week and will continue through the next week.""
""In the next week, we're going to deploy the officers here on detail, back to their home stations or other areas of the country where they are needed. But we're going to continue to enforce immigration law," Homan said."
""Minnesota now less of a sanctuary state for criminals""
Operation Metro Surge began in December when ICE and CBP deployed federal agents to the Twin Cities. Two US nationals, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, were killed by federal agents during the operation, prompting local and nationwide protests. The operation expanded to over 3,000 federal agents at its peak while Minneapolis has roughly 600 police officers. The raids included the detention of a five-year-old and his father. Tom Homan announced that he proposed ending the surge, that President Trump concurred, and that a significant drawdown and redeployment of officers will occur over the following week while enforcement continues.
