Thomas Massie filed with the Federal Election Commission to run for Congress in 2028. He lost the Republican primary for Kentucky’s Fourth Congressional District to Ed Gallrein, a retired Navy SEAL officer. Massie previously co-sponsored a bill requiring the Department of Justice to release files related to deceased child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Massie said he planned to release additional names of individuals appearing in the Epstein files and accused acting Attorney General Todd Blanche of violating federal law by not releasing all required materials. Massie also opposed President Donald Trump’s war on Iran. Trump publicly criticized Massie and other Republicans who lost Trump-backed primary challenges, while Massie said he would use the filing to raise funds for political operations.
