Letters: By electing Tordillos, S.J. District 3 rejects corporate influence
Briefly

The article discusses significant local issues in California, noting voters in District 3's rejection of corporate influence in their election, particularly regarding PG&E's involvement in council campaigns. The election showcased a preference for integrity and independence, with Anthony Tordillos emerging victorious. Moreover, it highlights environmental concerns, calling out Governor Newsom's lack of action against bee-killing pesticides, while urging the state to follow New York and Vermont's example by implementing a ban and protecting crucial bee populations. The article emphasizes accountability in governance and environmental advocacy.
Thank you, District 3 voters, for standing up for what's right. Your voices were loud and clear: We will not allow PG&E to buy influence on our City Council.
Let this be a lesson to PG&E and any other corporate actor: Our democracy is not for sale. District 3 will not stand for campaign meddling designed to benefit corporate interests over our communities.
Gov. Newsom has branded himself as a strong environmental advocate but has not yet taken a stand on the unregulated agricultural use of neonic seed coatings.
The state EPA is voting on this issue in February, and considering California's large agricultural presence and historical commitment to leading the country in environmental legislation, we should be the next state to ban the use of these bee-killing pesticides.
