"During questioning by Congress, Attorney General Pam Bondi used shouting as a technique to deflect difficult questions about President Donald Trump and the Epstein Files, citing the current strong stock market as an example of Trump's success. But Trump cannot be let off the hook for possible crimes just because he is perceived as doing some things right. Even a criminal as notorious as mob boss Al Capone appears to have been a family man who supported projects in his community."
"County supervisors are proposing to increase the county sales tax from the current 8.75% to raise $150 million a year. I served on the county grand jury 10 years ago that submitted a report (No. 1503) showing how the county could save nearly $100 million a year through negotiating a modest reform of unearned pension benefits. The board never took any action on the recommendation, apparently shying away from any action that would raise union opposition."
Pam Bondi shouted during Congressional questioning, citing a strong stock market as proof of presidential success while deflecting questions about President Donald Trump and the Epstein Files. Perceived successes do not excuse possible crimes and the situation is compared to Al Capone, whose community benevolence did not negate accountability for tax evasion and murder. The public must thoroughly investigate suspicions of sexual abuse and prioritize victims' voices over shouting. County officials should not raise the county sales tax before pursuing pension reform savings that could nearly offset proposed revenue. Moraga should raise a Pride flag in June.
