Large groups of high school students staged a walkout on Hesperian Boulevard in San Leandro to protest ICE. The protest began in the Walmart parking lot on Hesperian Boulevard. Demonstrators came from six different high schools in San Lorenzo, Hayward, and Berkeley. Students lined Hesperian Boulevard, with some crossing into traffic, and took over the median, the sidewalk and the front of a Starbucks. SKY7 captured video of the crowd. The demonstration occurred amid rising nationwide tensions over immigration enforcement following a second deadly shooting involving federal agents in Minneapolis.
