Karl Rove Warns Democrats Crime Is a National Issue And They're Losing
Briefly

Perceived leniency on crime and sanctuary-city policies is producing electoral backlash that threatens Democratic standing in major urban areas and nationally. Recent votes removed or defeated liberal prosecutors in San Francisco (recall vote 55-45), Alameda (37% retention, 63% removal), Los Angeles (George Gascon defeated 39% to 61% by Republican Nathan Hochman), and Portland (incumbent Mike Schmidt lost 46-54 to Nathan Vasquez, a registered Republican). These outcomes are linked to officials' refusal to cooperate with ICE and to positions labeled as soft on crime. Continued adoption of sanctuary approaches risks wider political consequences for Democratic candidates.
The Democrats don't seem to understand-, certain Democrats, like the socialist running for mayor of New York, do not seem to understand the problems that this represents for their party, and their party's label. They only need to look to recent history to see how being soft on crime, and adopting the methods of sanctuary cities blow up in their faces, argued Rove, who continued:
In San Francisco, they had a liberal prosecutor who was recalled by a vote of 55-45. Alameda, right across the bay, they had a liberal prosecutor recalled, got 37% to retain her, 63 to vote her out. In Los Angeles, remember George Gascon, the famous sort of, I'm a sanctuary city man, we're gonna, you know, be lenient on crime.
