Jamie Dimon said he supports merit-based immigration and expects significant employer objection to the president's executive order charging $100,000 for new H-1B visa applications. He said border control has been accomplished but urged that a nation maintain good immigration afterward. Dimon said employers use H-1Bs because they need the expertise and predicted companies would appeal to the American government explaining that need. He reported many phone calls after the rule change. JPMorgan ranks among the top users of H-1B visas. Several firms advised H-1B employees not to leave the country, while the administration clarified the fee applies only to future applications.
