A Boston mayoral candidate called for a change in Israeli leadership, saying Benjamin Netanyahu has to go while expressing horror at civilian and child suffering in Gaza. The Gaza Health Ministry reports 60,000 people killed since Oct. 7, 2023, including 18,500 children. A U.N.-backed food security initiative declared Gaza in a worst-case famine scenario. The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification reports 20,000 children hospitalized with malnutrition from April to mid-July, over 3,000 with severe malnutrition, and 16 children under five dying from hunger since July 17. Questions persist about weapons support and humanitarian consequences.
"Any war, wherever it is, there's collateral damage," Kraft continued. "But you know what, when it's kids, I've got a problem with that. And it's horrible what's happening to the kids in Gaza. Starvation. And altogether it's horrible. I don't like looking at it. I think there needs to be a change in Israeli leadership."
"Look, I don't want to talk about those federal issues," Kraft said when asked about whether or not the U.S. should be supplying Israel with weapons. "I've worked with kids, I think it's horrible what's happening ... It's not right. I think Netanyahu has to go."
"I'm an American Jew, you know, I'm a supporter of Israel, but it's - I think it's horrible what's happening now."
