In a recent criticism of Fox News host Harris Faulkner, conservative commentator Jonah Goldberg condemned her comparison of President Trump's tariffs to a wartime effort. Faulkner had suggested that Americans should support the tariff initiatives akin to supporting a war, arguing it would beneficially impact their 401(k)s over time. Goldberg rejected her stance vehemently, insisting that such a moral equivalence is unfounded, emphasizing there is no basis to believe that the current economic turmoil from tariff battles will lead to improvements for American investors.
I like Harris Faulkner. But I've been writing about the fallacy of moral equivalent of war' arguments for three decades. This is a ridiculous argument in every particular.
Goldberg blasted the ridiculous argument and comparison, arguing there is no evidence that a bumpy period dealing with pricey tariff battles will lead to personal benefits.
