Jimmy Kimmel suspension spurs House Democratic leaders to demand FCC chair resign
"House Democrats will make sure the American people learn the truth, even if that requires the relentless unleashing of congressional subpoena power. This will not be forgotten,"
"We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,"
"Brendan Carr, the so-called Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, has engaged in the corrupt abuse of power,"
"He has disgraced the office he holds by bullying ABC, the employer of Jimmy Kimmel, and forcing the company to bend the knee to the Trump administration. FCC Chair Brendan Carr should resign immediately."
ABC News pulled Jimmy Kimmel Live indefinitely after Kimmel criticized efforts to dissociate the Charlie Kirk killer from MAGA supporters. FCC Chair Brendan Carr warned the show should no longer run and threatened fines and license revocations. House Democratic leaders accused Carr of corruptly abusing his office by bullying ABC and bending the company to the Trump administration, and they called for his immediate resignation. Democratic lawmakers pledged to use congressional subpoena power to investigate and said the actions would not be forgotten. The FCC and the White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
