JD Vance Trashes Fake Story' About Qatari Air Force Facility in Idaho
"Today, we're announcing a letter of acceptance in building a Qatari Emiri Air Force facility at the Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho, declared Hegseth at a press conference also featuring his Qatari counterpart, Minister of Defense Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani. We're glad to welcome you here. We're grateful for the strong partnership that we have, the way you support our troops at Al Udeid, added Hegseth,"
"I actually talked to the Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, this morning. This is largely a fake story. We continue to have with countries that we work with, we have relationships where sometimes their pilots work on our bases, sometimes that we train together, sometimes we work together in other ways. The reporting that somehow there's going to be a Qatari base on United States soil, that's just not true."
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced acceptance to build a Qatari Emiri Air Force facility at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho. The location will host a contingent of Qatari F-15s and pilots to enhance combined training, increase lethality, and improve interoperability. Maria Bartiromo asked Vice President JD Vance about the facility during a Fox News appearance. Vance said he spoke with Hegseth and called reporting that a Qatari base would be established on United States soil largely fake. He added that allied pilots sometimes train on U.S. bases, and the United States would not allow a foreign country to have a base on American soil.
