"If you don't terminate the filibuster, you'll be in bad shape,"
"Big, Beautiful Bill,"
"this afternoon"
"I know where math is on this issue in the Senate. It's just not happening,"
President Trump urged GOP senators to terminate the filibuster immediately to end the government shutdown. He warned that failing to do so would leave Republicans in bad shape. He dismissed Sen. Lindsey Graham's suggestion to again use the reconciliation process as was done with the "Big, Beautiful Bill." He blamed the now-record shutdown for Tuesday night's sweeping Republican losses and said the shutdown has hurt Republicans more than Democrats. He said ending the filibuster "this afternoon" would be the quickest way to end the shutdown. Senate Majority Leader John Thune said Senate math makes that unlikely.
