"You cannot bring a firearm loaded with multiple magazines to any sort of protest that you want. It's that simple. You don't have the right to break the law and incite violence."
"Every peaceable Minnesotan has the right to keep and bear arms - including while attending protests, acting as observers, or exercising their First Amendment rights. These rights do not disappear when someone is lawfully armed, and they must be respected and protected at all times."
"We are not going after people and infringing on their freedom of speech to peacefully protest. We are definitely not going after people in their Second"
Alex Pretti, a concealed-carry permit holder, was fatally shot after federal agents engaged him during immigration enforcement activity in Minneapolis. Administration officials said Pretti carried a handgun and ammunition and suggested that indicated a plan to assassinate law enforcement. FBI Director Kash Patel warned against bringing loaded firearms with multiple magazines to protests. The administration released an image of a gun and extra ammunition allegedly taken from Pretti. Video footage did not show Pretti holding or pointing the gun, and some footage shows agents had disarmed him shortly before he was shot. Department of Homeland Security announced a limited internal investigation. Gun-rights groups criticized the killing, citing Second Amendment protections, and the FBI declined to comment.
