"In one particularly awkward exchange, Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) asked Kennedy how he could square his claim that the Covid-19 vaccine is harmful with the secretary's belief that President Donald Trump deserves a Nobel prize for Operation Warp Speed, which helped develop it. Polis appeared on Friday's All In, where the host noted that prominent Democrats and public health experts have called on Kennedy to step down."
"Well, again, I think the people calling for his resignation, the senators, etc., didn't vote for him in the first place, Polis replied. I obviously supported Joe Biden when he was running against RFK for president. Proud of that. And then obviously, RFK switched over to Trump. I supported Kamala Harris. So, you know, again, I think Democrats in general have a very different direction on health to empower people with the ability to make your own choices, remove barriers to advance medicine."
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. faced intense questioning at a Senate hearing over his vaccine policies and removal of CDC officials. Senators from both parties challenged his past claims that Covid-19 vaccines are harmful and his praise of President Donald Trump's Operation Warp Speed. Multiple Democrats and public health experts called for his resignation. Colorado Governor Jared Polis declined to say whether Kennedy should resign during an MSNBC interview, noting that many who called for resignation had not supported Kennedy, recalling his own support for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, and emphasizing Democrats' different direction on health policy and vaccine access.
