ICE director promises larger presence in Boston following Wu's defiance

Todd Lyons, acting director of ICE, said ICE will increase its presence in and around Boston to counter local sanctuary policies and support federal deportation goals. Lyons made the statement during an appearance on The Howie Carr Show while responding to Mayor Michelle Wu's resistance to the Trump administration's immigration enforcement agenda. The Department of Justice released criteria naming jurisdictions with policies that impede federal immigration enforcement and included Boston. Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi sent letters demanding abandonment of sanctuary policies. Mayor Wu replied that Boston follows the law and accused the administration of attacking cities to conceal its failures.
