ICE Agent Kills U.S. Citizen as She Tries to Drive Away After Another ICE Agent Attempts to Open Her Car Door
"In videos circulating on social media, one woman is seen parked in a burgundy SUV, partially blocking the road. A few ICE agents begin to surround her, ordering her to get out of the car, with one agent approaching her driver's door and attempting to open it. She then reverses her car in an apparent attempt to flee. An ICE agent near the front of the vehicle then appeared to fire three shots through the windshield, killing the 37-year-old woman."
"Despite multiple videos from various angles of the incident, DHS is attempting to spin the incident and claim the agent merely acted in self-defense. Defense Secretary Kristi Noem went even further, claiming the woman "attacked" ICE Agents and described her actions as an "act of domestic terrorism." "They are already trying to spin this as an action of self-defense. Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody directly that is bullshit," Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said in a press conference following the incident."
Operation Metro Surge deployed ICE agents to Minneapolis in December, and the Department of Homeland Security reports at least 1,400 arrests. During an immigration raid early Wednesday, residents attempted to block ICE agents from entering neighborhoods. Videos show a woman parked in a burgundy SUV partially blocking the road as agents surrounded her, ordered her to exit, and one agent tried to open the driver's door. The woman reversed to flee and an ICE agent near the front of the vehicle fired three shots through the windshield, killing the 37-year-old. DHS claims self-defense while officials including Kristi Noem labeled the actions an attack and domestic terrorism; Minneapolis leaders publicly disputed the DHS account and demanded ICE leave the city.
