Bill Maher stopped touring as a stand-up comic, citing travel fatigue and safety concerns about being shot by extremists on either the left or the right. Maher expressed frustration at selling fewer tickets than younger or more popular comedians despite feeling funnier. Maher misses performing but views touring as unnecessary given his current show. Maher criticized some popular contemporary comedy and compared it to modern music and rap that he does not fully understand. Maher also criticized Republicans for going too far and Democrats for moving toward socialism.
