Jimmy Kimmel was suspended and has since returned to his show. President Trump celebrated the initial suspension and criticized Kimmel’s rehiring on TruthSocial, calling ABC "Fake News" and alleging partisan bias and illegal campaign contributions. Trump also threatened legal action and mocked Kimmel’s ratings and talent. FCC Chair Brendan Carr earlier warned networks with the line, "We can do this the easy way or the hard way," but later said the federal government played no role in the suspension. Carr appeared to support Sinclair and some local stations that chose to preempt Kimmel’s program.
